Becoming a foster family in Haiti means opening your home to a child who cannot safely remain with their own family. Families are identified, prepared and monitored by the Institut du Bien-être Social et de Recherches (IBESR). Holding current first-aid and CPR training is commonly expected as part of being ready to care for a child.
急救要求
In Haiti, the foster-family programme is led by the IBESR, which identifies families, trains them on children's needs and follows up before and after a placement. While the published rules focus on the home assessment and the family's suitability, a recognized first-aid and CPR certificate is commonly expected so a carer can respond to common emergencies — injuries, choking, an unresponsive child — including CPR for children and infants.
Where required, the certificate is recognized by the IBESR and kept current through periodic renewal. It is one part of caregiver readiness that is in addition to — never a replacement for — the home assessment, background checks and the demonstrated ability to care for a child.
